19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour championship, took control to create a decider.
He saved four early-game chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he secured victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
